Lesson 2a. Of course on course we teach you precisely how to write great programs, progress them, develop core stability, teach correct form and technique and help people work out in a range of different settings (not just a gym setting). This lesson focuses on the three S's of fitness: Strength, Stamina and Suppleness. There is also a longer recording all about Posture and Postural Correction. NUTRITION COACHING AND ACCELERATED FAT LOSS
Lesson 2b is all about nutrition and why diets don't work. When we diet especially when we restrict calorie and fat intake, our body reacts and preserves itself. It promotes using muscle as fuel and prevents fat being used during exercise. And this is a problem. People can experience a drop in metabolism and subsequently increase their chance of weight gain as soon as they come off the diet (which they always do). Instead, we will consider some important fat loss hormones, principles of accelerated fat loss and how to COACH nutritional change. You see usually when someone restricts their fat intake, they end up increasing their carbohydrate consumption (otherwise they go hungry) and therefore they end up with lots of insulin in their system. Apart from the obvious diabetes risk, the challenge with this is insulin inhibits another hormone called glucagon; and glucagon is our fat burning friend. Instead, we need to be more strategic with our nutrition intervention.
On course we will look at nutrition, the specific role of resistance training and high intensity cardio to create fantastic results for our clients. That said, the biggest challenge we have as trainers is actually getting clients to change. You we we are social creatures of habit, we eat more for how we are feeling not what we need and we resist advice, even good advice. Enjoy these taster videos.
