Thanks for taking the time to check-in with me here.

It's great that you're looking into becoming an elite fitness professional - the world really needs them!

I hope that you will find some valuable information here about what it takes to 'be more' and some precious insights into the industry.

Below is a collection of thoughts, articles, blogs, FAQs in all shapes and sizes.

Yes, we do offer something very different here - as a fitness provider, we don't really fit in - and with good reason. We don't train thousands of people to train to REPs guidelines... we teach a small amount of people to excel and stand out as successful personal trainers. Below, you can read all about my thoughts about the state of the industry as well as how and why you need to push yourself. After all, in order to get more, you need to 'be more'.

Over the years I have come to understand the single most important factor underpinning success in any arena is drive. We call this DESIRE on course. Our role is therefore to help our students discover their true desire by exciting them and helping them explore all aspects of personal training, a range of clients in PT clinic and we do this by providing an environment conducive to doing so.

If desire is the first pillar of success, BELIEF is the second. Your certainty about your capability and your considered products and services for your clients is key. People want to buy products from a confident trainer. Therefore you must believe in yourself and in what you do. This means taking time to build your products and services so that what you have to sell genuinely offers value in the lives' of your clients.  You should, too, believe in your clients. See clients as resourceful people who are lost, not broken. Help them discover where they are currently at, where they want to be and help them get there. Belief comes from inner confidence and inner confidence and certainty about who you are and what you do comes from your training and, in the case of choosing EIF, the personal development that comes hand-in-hand with getting away and immersing yourself in an experience.

The third pillar of success is ATTITUDE. Attitude is about positivity and always being able to see the positive in challenging situations, looking for strength in others and relentlessly having that positive mindset that simply inspires others.

The fourth pillar I wanted to share with you is that of ACCOUNTABILITY. Successful people take responsibility for their life and their outcomes. They don't blame others, the environment, luck (or lack of it) or indeed anything else, they own it. We use the equation     E+R=O to express this helping people understand stuff happens, but it isn't what this stuff is that counts but how we deal with it. That is Events don't cause Outcomes but the way we Respond to Events ultimately determines the Outcomes we experience in our lives. Our role as personal trainers is often to help clients become more accountable.

Then there are two further pillars ACTION and PERSISTENCE that create the results we visualise for ourselves when we have the kind of desire I mention. We talk about ready FIRE aim here at the European Institute of Fitness. That is get ready and take a shot. You see, so many people wait a lifetime to pull the trigger procrastinating and often insisting they need to be 100% certain before they try. The thing is taking a shot and seeing how it goes, adjusting afterwards and taking a second shot actually helps to take aim. This way our second and third and fourth shots have a much greater chance of hitting the target. And success is about consistency; a habit of firing / shooting, not a single shot. Life is about success and failure. Successful people recognise this and because their belief about themselves is high they are prepared to fire and not worry if they slightly miss the target first time because they can always learn and refine their next effort. And when the going gets tough, successful people keep going. Persistence is key but easy then pillars 1, 2 and 3 are in place that is you know what you want, can prioritise it and fundamental belief in yourself in others and in what you do and always carry a can-do positive attitude everywhere they go. Why not find out where our graduates went...after they left us.

PS you will likely only re-train as a personal trainer once, make it count!
